Since 2001, John Gatsos has been the executive chef at Tavern on Rush in the Gold Coast. Tavern is an upscale, contemporary steakhouse offering an extensive menu of classic American fare, including only the finest USDA prime aged steaks and chops, fresh fish and seafood and unique daily specials. The versatility of the menu has allowed John to explore his interests in a variety of international cuisines, most notably Asian and Mediterranean.
John, a true Chicagoan, was born, raised and has spent most of his almost 30-year cooking career in Chicagoland. With Tavern on Rush, John is a supporter of major events with the American Liver Foundation, Green City and Gilda’s Club. He has also worked as a private dinner chef for MLB and NBA teams.
Prior to working at Tavern on Rush, John served as the Executive Chef at the Chicago Yacht Club, Monroe and Belmont Harbors for ten years. He attended Washburn Culinary Institute in Chicago and is a member of the Chicago Culinary Federation.
